Leadership program for high school juniors designed to develop young leaders through interactive programming and its impact on a strong and dynamic community.
Leadership University is a free program for high school juniors in Jackson-Madison County (public, independent, or home school). Its mission is to identify and develop a diverse group of high school juniors who demonstrate leadership potential. The purpose is to empower our youth and give them the tools to develop their leadership skills while making students aware of community issues.
Leadership University requires an investment of time, energy, and enthusiasm.
Leadership University is open to high school juniors in Madison County—public, private and home schooled.
Each year, approximately 40 class members are selected from public, private and home schooled sophomores in Madison County. Using the objectives of LU as a guide, the Leadership University Selection Committee review all applicants on a designated day in April with each school being notified of that date. After interviewing the applicants, a class of 40 will be selected. All applicants will be notified in writing of the Selections Committee’s decision. Applications remain confidential.

The Leadership University application deadline for submitting applications is typically the first of April. For the upcoming year, March 29, 2025 is the application deadline.
